Hi there!
It was a day which ended at the Springfield, IL Elks Lodge. Traveling about 510 miles winding our way from AL through TN and KY to IL we arrived 9 hours later very tired. Fortunately, the Elks Lodge in Springfield overlooking a lovely lake has an operating kitchen with a trained chef. As always, we were welcomed as 'traveling Elks' and enjoyed a drink and a tasty meal over conversation with a couple of interesting fellows. One was a retired civil engineer who retired into small farming, and the other, a land surveyor. It made for a nice evening. After we went for a stroll down by the lake. It was bedtime by 9:00 pm and we slept the night through!
Tomorrow we hope to make Des Moines, IA.
