A DAY IN MIAMI BEACH

Colorful Art Deco buildings and colorful people

semi-overcast 85 °F

Good morning!

Sunday was a good time to visit Miami Beach for the traffic on all the freeways was relatively light. We left Homestead with overcast skies and as we took the 45 minute drive into Miami there were patches of blue sky. For about 4 hours at mid-day there was sunshine so it made for a pleasant visit. We took an auto tour of Miami Beach including South Beach & northward to North Beach. There are literally hundreds of hotels along this stretch. The Art Deco theme of architecture is abundant and the pastel colors of these buildings is striking. Very beautiful. Immense wealth is evident with the exotic cars on the streets and yachts along the seawall. Fabulous homes line the waterways. Our Ford Focus certainly stood out!! Fortunately, we happened upon an open parking space on the main street so we parked and walked up & down the street enjoying the sights. I think the young women purchase their swimwear by the square inch for there was not much cloth and alot of flesh displayed on the streets and in the restaurants! We chose a Mexican restaurant for lunch and enjoyed the food and the people strolling on the sidewalk! All the young people seemed in a party mood so it was fun to observe. As the skies clouded over we headed back to our car before getting wet and drove back to the campground. After a little grocery shopping we found a pizza parlor for dinner, then returned to the rv where we read our books until about 11:00 pm. An exciting life we lead!

Tomorrow we head north to Vero Beach where we have a one night's reservation.
