KEY WEST

A little exploring by bicycle

sunny 88 °F

Hi Y'all;

It was off to a slow start this morning but that is what vacation is all about, right? Pat spent most of the morning working on her computer. While she is officially retired from the State of Minnesota, Dept. of Mental Health, Div. of Adolescent & Youth Mental Health she is now in a 6 month contract to mentor 2 young psychologists (30's) whom she worked with. They will assume her job this summer. They are like daughters to her so she enjoys keeping in touch with them.

While she was working I pulled the folding bikes out of their zipper bags and mounted them on our auto bike rack. We drove over to Higgs Beach which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, parked the car, unloaded the bikes and rode along the beach walk from the Southern Most Point monument several miles (in the heat!) to Fort East Martello Museum and back to the car. A lunch stop at a beach-side dive was included, of course. It was enough of the heat so we returned to our cool mh where the shower felt wonderful. Dinner, after a glass of wine, was enjoyed at a waterside restaurant called ' The Stoned Crab' whose origin I would guess dates back to the 70's??

Tomorrow's plans are pretty loose. More bike riding, eating, and sipping I would guess.

Dick
