Day One of Activities

sunny 80 °F

Howdy Partner;

The day had a leisurely beginning with my first scheduled class at 11:00 am. The class, Training for Volunteers, was informational. I learned that my assignment was 'Golf Cart Driver'. I told the supervisor that I was a better golf cart driver than a golfer. That must have won me the job!
After lunch with newly-met friends from around the country we attended the 3:00 pm meeting of "First Timers". They gave us an overview of the rally and the various seminar offerings, social activities, and put a plug in for the 200 vendors displaying their services & wares. In addition, there are 100 MH manufacturers/dealers displaying the newest & best offerings for 2018/19.
After the First Timers meeting we were ushered into a large room where Chapters (clubs) had table displays organized by Region the purpose of which is to entice newcomers to join a local chapter to get involved in MHing near your home base. I came across a table display representing Singles International, a chapter for 'Singles Only' RVers. They host a daily 5:00 pm 'Happy Hour' at the Rally. Out of curiosity I will attend one see what its like. One never knows, I might meet a rich widow & possibly have a chance to 'upgrade' my MH!!

A storm was brewing for the sky was dark to the north. Since I rode the 1/4 mile from my campsite to the Cam-Plex on my folding bike I hastily headed back with bolts of lightning in the sky, arriving home just as it started to sprinkle. It rained hard with a touch of hail before the storm passed and the skies cleared. Guess I'll stay home tonight. The evening entertainment starts tomorrow night.

More tomorrow.....................
