ON THE ROAD TO SEE HENRY

Dearborne, Michigan my destination

semi-overcast 81 °F

(Wednesday) Finally, it was a good day where all things fell into place. Yes, UPS came through with 2 parcels that were of importance. One containing a retirement income check which had been sent to Ogdensburg by mistake, and the other a replacement mirror for the motor home. Both were sent 'Overnight Express' to my friend's home in Arlington, OH arriving about 1:00 pm. I arranged to have a local mechanic install the new mirror and I was on my way to Michigan at around 4:00 pm.

A short two hour trip led me to a wonderful State Park in Monroe, Michigan. It overlooked Lake Erie, has a beach and very nice campsites. Overnight we experienced a heavy rainstorm. I pity those campers who were in tents. Tent camping is wonderful when the weather is good, miserable when it rains for it is impossible to stay completely dry. Motor home camping is a little nicer if the roof does not leak. I haven't noticed any leaks yet.

(Thursday) My trip today was a short 45 mile drive to Belleville, MI west of Dearborn & Detroit, so I left about noon. The sun is shining so I took a long walk through the park this morning. Exercise is needed. Tomorrow, Saturday, perhaps Sunday I will visit the Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village, and the Ford Motor Company's River Rouge plant. Something I have looked forward to for some time. This morning I had a nice conversation with my neighbors at the RV park. Being local they advised that I steer clear of Detroit as many highways are being worked on and the traffic is a mess. Their suggestion was to take Telegraph Road from I-75 north to I-94 where the interchange for Belleville is located. Good advice for I missed the traffic quagmire. This delightful park is called Wayne County Fairgrounds & RV Park. Nice people with spacious sites and full hookups with water, 50 amp power, and sewer.

The trip into Dearborn is reported to be an easy 20 minute one to the Henry Ford Museum, etc. Weather is now nice so life is good!
